Description
Merrill in the Roaring 20's Read about the events happening in Merrill during the 1920s. Lots of advertisements from the local Merrill paper. There were 11 brands of automobiles offered for sale - do you remember the DORT? Allen & Zander's Garage was constructed in the 900 block of East Main - in later years the home of The Guys Shop, before it was demolished, and became Merrill's Pocket Park. In 1924 there was completion of the Alexander Dam, Lincoln School, and the high school annex opened. The planning for one-way traffic for First and Second Streets started. Moving pictures came to Gleason.
